Education

 Education Expert: Ms. Chichi Tsai

There is no doubt that education is the key to the success or failure of a society, and Gachihya realizes this. Our education system will strive to be both the most efficient and the most individualized one there is, while still remaining accessible to people.

Accessibility
The first 9 years of education in Gachihyia is compulsive and mostly free. The students will have to pay for some of the materials they use in class, but students who have financial problems at home will have governmental funding to help them out about that.

Efficiency
Finland has been extremely successful in their education system -out of a study of 57 countries, their students rank the highest in several areas, including Science, Reading, and Mathematics. Their education system has been said to be the best in the world. We will follow some of their most basic principles in setting up a good education system.

Finland as an Example:
Good Educators

Finland's success is due partially to the fact that educators in Finland are selected out of the top 20% of university grads, and are some of the brightest and most creative of their generation. Educators of Gachyia will enjoy governmental healthcare and insurance benefits aimed at encouraging people to become educators, and we hope to instill a culture where being an educator is a highly covetable position that indicates great character.

Teachers will be assessed and picked not just by their personal scores and intellect, but more importantly by how they manage a class of students and help individual students. All teachers must be teachers-aides to 5 different teachers in different schools over the course of a year before they become qualified teachers, and will be assessed on a personal level by these teachers to ensure that they are good people.

Fun Policy
The emphasis of our educational system will mimic that of Finland: To help kids have fun and have the life that they want, not to live a life of statistics and numbers. Our education system for the first couple of years will have a focus on communication and social ability, and it will be a top priority to make kids as interested as possible in the subject material.

Individualization
Once again, let's look at Finland.

Positive-Discrimination
Part of Finland's education program is for teachers to interact more which the kids that need extra help. The teachers spend less time teaching in class than average schools and use the extra time to analyze and assess each student on their personal and academic growth. They meet with other teachers to discuss a course of action for students that they feel need extra help, and are free to tailor small parts of the curriculum to fit that students needs so long as they do not interfere with their other classmates.

Children with special needs -both physically, emotionally, and linguistically, will go to special classes taught by teachers whose main job is to help them transition into the main school system as best as they can.

Class choice
The Secondary Education in Gachihyia is more individualized than schools that exist today. Aside from 3 standard classes: Math, Science, and Humanities, students are allowed to pick classes in the fields that they are interested in, and will meet monthly with the school counsellors to discuss their aspirations and the classes they are taking.

Every 3 months, the students will be allowed to choose different classes to transfer to, or to remain in the same classes. If there is a class on a field that the student is interested in studying, they can ask for classes of independant study or recieve lessons over the internet from educators at different schools. This allows students to enjoy learning and to learn things that will be useful to their later careers.
